Avalon Nano 3S Custom Firmware Guide

Learn what custom firmware changes on the Avalon Nano 3S, what HashPower OS adds, how browser installation and factory recovery work, and which mining, pool, cooling, and performance controls remain dependent on your own hardware.

Start with the hardware boundary

What Is Avalon Nano 3S Custom Firmware?

Custom firmware replaces or extends the software that runs directly on an ASIC miner. HashPower OS is built specifically for the Canaan Avalon Nano 3S and adds an on-miner WebUI for persistent frequency profiles, individual ASIC visibility, cooling, power telemetry, pool configuration, alerts, updates, and recovery. It is not a Windows skin, a browser extension, or official Canaan firmware.

The Avalon Nano 3S contains 12 ASIC chips. HashPower OS exposes live chip data and stores the selected operating profile on the miner so the configuration returns after reboot without leaving a desktop application open.

On-miner control

What HashPower OS Adds To The Nano 3S

Current features are described directly, without a guaranteed performance claim.

ASIC Tuning

Use whole-miner presets or inspect and tune individual Nano 3S ASIC clocks with live temperature, work, share, health, and estimated-hashrate data.

Cooling And Power

View voltage, current, wattage, fan speed, and chip temperature while using target-temperature cooling and guarded performance controls.

Bitcoin Mining Pools

Configure as many as eight compatible Stratum V1, encrypted V1, or V2 pool connections with weighted scheduling and per-pool statistics.

On-Miner Profiles

Save performance, cooling, power, and pool choices on the Avalon Nano 3S so the selected setup can return after a normal restart.

Browser Flashing

Verify the supported K230 USB device, check the firmware image, and install HashPower OS from a WebUSB-compatible desktop browser.

Factory Recovery

Use the guided ten-partition stock recovery image and complete reset path to return the Nano 3S to a clean factory configuration.

Performance without a made-up promise

Avalon Nano 3S Overclocking, Hashrate, And Efficiency

HashPower OS provides overclocking and per-chip controls, but it does not promise one universal hashrate. Two Nano 3S miners can behave differently at the same requested frequency because silicon quality, power delivery, connector condition, fan airflow, ambient temperature, pool difficulty, and network quality all matter.

Start from a proven profile, watch accepted and rejected shares, let temperatures stabilize, and compare useful pool-side work rather than relying only on a short local hashrate reading. Read the Legal and Risk Notice before changing frequency, voltage, power, or cooling.

Pool control is not a block guarantee

Solo Mining, Pooled Mining, And Stratum Connections

An Avalon Nano 3S can connect to a compatible solo-mining or pooled-mining Stratum endpoint. HashPower OS helps configure, test, prioritize, and monitor those pool connections. Accepted shares prove useful work is reaching the pool, while the pool's displayed hashrate is an estimate over its own time window. Neither custom firmware nor a pool can guarantee that one miner will find a Bitcoin block.

Installation and recovery

Install, Update, Or Restore The Avalon Nano 3S

Each path uses the supported Nano 3S image and the matching device workflow.

Install HashPower OS

Use the Flash OS portal with an eligible one-device license and an Avalon Nano 3S placed in K230 BOOT mode.

Use Signed Updates

Supported releases use the on-miner updater after the required manual bridge version has been installed and validated.

Return To Stock

Use the public factory-recovery workflow when you need stock operation, a clean reset, or recovery from a failed custom installation.

Compatibility and safety

Avalon Nano 3S Firmware FAQ

Does HashPower OS support the Avalon Nano 3 as well as the Nano 3S?

No. The current HashPower OS image supports the Canaan Avalon Nano 3S only. Do not cross-flash it onto an Avalon Nano 3, Mini 3, Avalon Q, or another model.

Is HashPower OS official Canaan firmware?

No. HashPower OS is an independent custom firmware project. Canaan and Avalon names are used only to identify compatible hardware.

Can custom firmware overclock an Avalon Nano 3S?

HashPower OS exposes persistent frequency, per-chip, cooling, voltage, and power controls. Stable results depend on the individual miner, power supply, cooling, room temperature, network, and pool, so no hashrate is guaranteed.

Can an Avalon Nano 3S use HashPower OS for solo mining?

Yes, when the selected solo or pooled-mining service exposes a compatible Stratum V1, encrypted V1, or V2 endpoint. Firmware can manage pool connections and shares, but it cannot change the probability of finding a Bitcoin block.

Can I return the miner to factory firmware?

Yes. HashPower provides a guided, full ten-partition factory recovery path for the Avalon Nano 3S, followed by a complete reset of saved pools and custom settings.
